Rep. Noem in Sioux Falls Monday, April 8th to Discuss Tax Simplification for Senior Citizens
With the April 15 tax deadline just around the corner, Rep. Kristi Noem will be in Sioux Falls on Monday, April 8th, to visit the Primrose Retirement Facility to discuss legislation she recently cosponsored which would simplify tax filings for seniors. She will give brief remarks and will take questions.
Background: H.R. 38, the Seniors’ Tax Simplification Act of 2013, would replace the current lengthy and complicated tax filing procedure with a single, simplified form for seniors. The bill aims to make it easier for seniors who rely on Social Security and investment income to file their taxes. The legislation has been endorsed by AARP, Americans for Tax Reform and the 60 Plus Association.

Background: On February 27th, a statue of Rosa Parks was dedicated in Statuary Hall, making Rosa Parks the first black woman to be honored with a life-size statue in the Capitol. In honor of this event, Rep. Noem ordered an American flag to be flown that day over the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Noem will present this flag to the administration, faculty and students of Rosa Parks Elementary during a school assembly.
