Congresswoman Kristi Noem gave out a special medal Monday to a Korean War veteran, as a thank you from the Korean people for his service.

Edgar Resel served in Korea for eight months doing an assortment of jobs.

The award is an addition to a number of other awards he has received over the years.

Resel said he didn’t expect this award, and he greatly appreciates the recognition from the Korean people.

"The realization that the Korean people are appreciative of our efforts over there. And I think its kind of nice they do that,” said Edgar Resel.

He also received a thank you letter from the South Korean President personally thanking him for fighting for his peoples’ freedom.
