With drought conditions worsening... ranchers and farmers are concerned about their crops and livestock.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, over 80 percent of the state is in a moderate drought with around 11 percent suffering from extreme drought in the North West.

But for those in the agriculture industry, the government is attempting to help by releasing land in the conservation preserve program for haying and grazing.

These fall back options for ranchers and farmers are put into place by the farm bill in 2014 supported by Representative Kristi Noem.

Noem says, "In the last farm bill I had legislation that made our livestock disaster programs permanent one of those is a livestock forage program so that will give producers dollars from USDA to purchase hay in the future so that they can get through this difficult time. So there is a safety net out there they need to visit their local FSA offices and then now that we have CRP as well but really ultimately we need a good rain all the way across the state."
