South Dakota's Kristi Noem says Republicans and Democrats need to work together to solve big problems

Republican Noem Wednesday was part of a virtual town hall on women's issues sponsored by 'She Knows' Media, a leading women's media company.

"I come from a pretty conservative state, but a lot of my family are Democrats," Noem said, "and we all love each other and spend time together."

Noem said that for about half the bills she has sponsored in Congress, at least one Democrat has been a co-sponsor. She mentioned anti-sex trafficking laws as one example of how bi-partisanship has worked in Washington.

"Seems like most of the time when you have women working on problems here in Congress, we don't get wrapped up in a lot of ego or who gets the credit." Noem said.

House Republican Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Representative Mimi Walters (R-CA) were also part of the online town hall discussion.

The women discussed national security, jobs, economic growth, and constitutional liberties, and took questions from the audience.

March is Women's History Month.
