Rep. Kristi Noem today issued the following statement, after voting against the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which would blow through previously established budget caps:

“This is not the way governing is done, busting through budget caps and denying accountability to taxpayers,” said Noem. “I have repeatedly voted to responsibly support our priorities, including our troops and our border security. But I will not back a no-limit credit card for the federal government. An effective government is a limited government, which is why I will continue to fight for a Balanced Budget Amendment. It’s time taxpayer dollars are protected by the Constitution.”

While Noem believes it’s essential we maintain the full faith and credit of the United States, she has consistently rejected debt ceiling increases that did not include meaningful budgetary reforms.
